ABOUT OUR SERVICE

Lake Lindsey United Methodist Church is blessed to have Pastor Burnie lead us.  We love to sing and usually sing old favorites.  After the service we end with a closing circle, all hands joined,  singing  the chorus of “When We All Get To Heaven” twice.

CHURCH HISTORY
Reverence For The Past: Vision For The Future

Methodist “preaching” began at least as early as 1851. Meetings began in private homes. Later, organized services were held in a vacant building on Mayo’s Hill. In 1874 Rev. John R. Mays, a local elder, began holding revival services. Many persons were won to Christ and a rough framed building was erected on the lake. For several years it served as a place of worship for both Methodists and Baptists and as a public school for the community.

In 1886 the Methodists built a church about 2 ½ miles away. It was called “The New Church”. In 1928 Mr. Fred Nelson donated property on the lake and the church building was moved to its present location. Nine small buildings were erected during the 1940’s and used for Sunday School rooms until the present Fellowship Hall was completed in 1965 and the classrooms added in 1981.

We eagerly look to a continued ministry glorifying our Lord and Savior. We invite you to be a part of this growing and exciting work of God.
